Arsenal easily defeats Brighton to reclaim the top spot in the Premier League.

After a commanding 3-0 victory over Brighton at the Amex Stadium on Saturday night, Arsenal took back the top spot in the Premier League standings.
The Gunners got off to a fast start and came dangerously close to taking the lead after two minutes when Gabriel Magalhães headed Martin Ødegaard's free-kick just wide.

Although Julio Enciso wasted a good counterattack opportunity for Brighton by blazing over in space, Arsenal dominated the first part of the game. Upon rejoining the team, Bukayo Saka cut inside and curled wide before setting up Gabriel Jesus to shoot towards goal, but Bart Verbruggen denied the Brazilian expertly.

The same players and playmakers were involved in Arsenal's opening goal. Saka scored his 14th league goal of the season with ease after Tariq Lamptey tripped Jesus in the box.

After a captivating first half, David Raya's incredible acrobatic save to stop Enciso from long range helped the visitors maintain their lead before halftime.

In stoppage time, Palmer scores twice as Chelsea defeats Manchester United in a thrilling match.

At Stamford Bridge on Thursday night, Cole Palmer (age 21) played up to his moniker "Cold," remaining composed as he converted two penalties and completed not only Chelsea's amazing comeback but also his first-ever Premier League hat-trick in the 101st minute of play. It was another one-man show.
After trailing by a goal in the 99th minute, the Blues defeated Manchester United in the league (4–3) for the first time in seven years, mostly because to another outstanding effort from Palmer. "Madness," exclaimed the English sensation following an absurd seven-goal thriller.

It was, in many respects, an insane game on Thursday night at Stamford Bridge. Palmer's maiden hat-trick, an attacking extravaganza of seven goals, a thrilling game ending, and a plethora of statistics oddities were all presented to the spectators.

Only one of those figures applies to Chelsea. Counting shots, statisticians have counted 47 or more in their last two games. In particular, this occurred against Burnley (51) on Saturday and Manchester United (47) on Thursday. There have only been two situations in the last nine seasons in the Premier League WHERE so many shots have been made.

Wolves manager O'Neil: Cunha ready for Burnley

Matheus Cunha, a striker for Wolves, is set to make his injured comeback this week, according to manager Gary O'Neil.

The Brazilian's hamstring issue prevented him from playing since the middle of February.

He is, nevertheless, prepared to return to action and will play against Burnley on Tuesday.

According to O'Neil, reporters will likely meet him on Tuesday. Unless something goes wrong in the interim, he will undoubtedly be included on the matchday roster. He is far ahead of time. After the injury, the scan results were expected to be between 10 and 12 weeks, but they are already just over six.

We need to make sure it's the correct decision for him, but he's doing everything he can. He even knocked on my door to ask to play in the Aston Villa match. This season, injuries have already caused us to experience a few setbacks.

“You have medical information that tells you he shouldn't quite be ready yet, but Matheus Cunha looks ready and tells you he's ready. He rang me about four times at 9.30, 10 o clock at night telling me how ready he is, but I want to help him. I understand he feels ready, but we need to make sure we tick enough boxes. He did a great session on the grass on Friday. Instead of risking him, he was able to really test his hamstring with a good session and it puts him in a great spot for Tuesday night and into next Saturday... [read more]
Dominic Solanke of Bournemouth equals the club record against Everton.

Dominic Solanke of Bournemouth equals the club record against Everton.

With 15 goals in 28 Premier League games this season, the 26-year-old has been crucial to Bournemouth's success.

In the Premier League scoring lists, Solanke is presently third behind Manchester City's Erling Haaland and Liverpool's Mohamed Salah, and behind Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins.

Even though Solanke has participated in every league game for Bournemouth this season, he has been dealing with a knee issue lately.

Nonetheless, Solanke has had time to recuperate and advance in his attempt to overcome the injury problem thanks to the international break.

"We have no issues with Dom," Andoni Iraola told reporters ahead of Saturday's clash with Everton. "It's a good moment for him personally. We have given him a bit of rest and time to recover, and he has been doing very well this week. I 100% expect him to be involved.

Solanke will have the opportunity to tie the club record for the most goals scored by a Bournemouth player in a single Premier League season as he is expected to start against the Toffees.

With 16 goals in the league in the 2016–17 season, Joshua King holds the record, which Solanke is now one goal short of.

Unfortunately, despite just managing one goal in eight games against the Toffees, Solanke does not particularly enjoy playing against Everton.

Brazil starlet Endrick scores only goal to dent England’s Euro 2024 buildup

It's the itch that England has had difficulty rubbing off. They rarely get anything from Brazil; their record against them is worse than their record against any other opposition, and this particular night things only grew worse, raising a few eyebrows in Gareth Southgate's eyebrows.

Even though Southgate was without several important players, most notably captain Harry Kane, Luke Shaw, and Bukayo Saka, it was supposed to be different; a friendly to fine-tune for the European Championship in the summer. Brazil was shown as being in a crisis, with Dorival Júnior, the new manager, cautioning that he was not a magician. It seems that he had by the end.

Leicester City: The Premier League accuses the Championship club of violating financial rules.

Leicester City: The Premier League accuses the Championship club of violating financial rules.

The Premier League has charged Leicester City of violating spending regulations throughout their previous three seasons in the top flight.

Due to their failure to provide audited financial statements and their violation of the profit and sustainability regulations (PSR), Leicester has been referred to an independent commission.

The Championship's top scorers can lose points if found guilty.

The English Football League (EFL) is conducting a separate financial investigation into the Foxes.

Leicester, who were relegated at the end of last season, said they were "surprised" and "disappointed" by the timing of the Premier League's actions, when the club is not in the top flight.

The club added they would "defend" themselves "from any unlawful acts by the football authorities, should they seek to exercise jurisdiction WHERE they cannot do so".

"LCFC remains willing and eager to engage constructively with the Premier League and the EFL to seek the proper resolution of any potential charges, by the right bodies, and at the right time," the Foxes said... [read more]
West Ham held to draw with Aston Villa after late VAR controversy prevents Hammers winner

West Ham held to draw with Aston Villa after late VAR controversy prevents Hammers winner

Aston Villa survived a thrilling late drama to earn a point against West Ham United, after a VAR review disallowed the Hammers' stoppage-time winner.
With nine games played at home without a loss, the Villans' quest for a first-ever victory at the London Stadium is still ongoing (W4, D5).

Because of their easy midweek wins that guaranteed quarterfinal spots in their respective European championships, both teams entered this game in high spirits.

Despite having all of the first-half possession, Villa was unable to gain any ground on West Ham, and they were aiming to win just their second Premier League double.

The hosts had the better opportunities, though, as Lucas Paqueta's shot went just past of the goal after bouncing off Tomas Soucek. Morgan Rogers appeared to be a lively player for the visitors.

Despite being pulled out of the Czech Republic's team for their next international friendlies, right-back Vladimir Coufal proved his worth to West Ham in this match.

Coufal gave a pinpoint cross after launching a powerful deflected shot towards Emiliano Martinez, allowing Michail Antonio to break the tie with a diving header and give West Ham a well-earned halftime lead.

Man United hit with big injury blow hours before kickoff vs. Liverpool

Following an update from his national team, Man United may be without one of their key midfield players for their FA Cup match against Liverpool on Sunday.

However, hours before Man United and Liverpool's match to begin off, manager Dorival Jr. disclosed a fresh injury to the seasoned midfield player.

“From a pre-list made by the Brazilian national team’s technical committee with 50 names, 13 of them were already away due to injuries at their clubs,” he explained.

Though Man United has not yet verified the injury, it appears that Casemiro won't play in the FA Cup quarterfinal.

Like many of his teammates, the 32-year-old has battled with form this season, but Erik ten Hag still views him as a first-choice starter in midfield.

So far in 2023–24, he has started all 21 of his appearances, including the last nine games. The only midfielders for United who have played more minutes than him are Bruno Fernandes and Scott McTominay.

Bournemouth stuns Luton with a four-goal comeback from Semenyo.

In an exciting game on Wednesday night at the Vitality Stadium, Bournemouth defeated Luton 4-3 thanks to four goals in the second half, two of which came from Antoine Semenyo.
Luton began the game like a team possessed on the south coast, motivated by the knowledge that a win would have seen them finish the evening outside of the bottom three.

The Hatters were eager to seize the chance to avoid relegation, and they had circled this match for weeks. Within ten minutes, Jordan Clark's ball found Tahith Chong, who was unmarked, in the far post, putting the Hatters ahead.

Leading Bournemouth's counterattack was Luis Sinisterra, who twice made smart stops to hold onto Thomas Kaminski's lead. The Cherries were down 2-0 against Sheffield United, another freshly promoted team, and it didn't take them long to find themselves in a similar situation.

Arsenal back Arteta after manager rages at VAR 'disgrace'

As Mikel Arteta criticized the refereeing in Saturday's Premier League loss to Newcastle United, Arsenal declared that they 'wholeheartedly support' him and urged the referees authority (PGMOL) to investigate refereeing standards.

Arteta delivered a harsh evaluation of the match officials and the Premier League's standards, saying he felt 'embarrassed' and 'sick' following Anthony Gordon's contentious goal in Newcastle's 1-0 home victory over his team.

In a statement released on Sunday, Arsenal Football Club stated that it 'wholly supports Mikel Arteta's post-match comments after yet more unacceptable refereeing and VAR errors on Saturday evening.'

This season, the PGMOL has been under growing fire following a number of controversial VAR judgments. The most well-known of these was the 'human error' that resulted in the disqualification of a genuine Liverpool goal against Tottenham Hotspur... [read more]

Everton, Tottenham talking to restructure Alli deal - sources

The former England midfielder is still regarded as being a ways off from playing in the starting lineup again. However, Everton manager Sean Dyche has already stated that he is amenable to Alli being back in the lineup while he recovers from a groin injury. The first team of Everton is not currently training with Alli.

Everton is facing increasing financial difficulties and is waiting to hear back from an independent committee that is looking into potential violations of the Financial Fair Play regulations. If found guilty, the Premier League may dock the team 12 points.

After Dyche disclosed that Everton's director of football, Kevin Thelwell, was requesting a modification to the current arrangement, a source at Tottenham told ESPN that the team is amenable to coming up with a solution that benefits everyone.

'Kev has had a couple of phone calls, just lightly in the background. Look, WHERE do you see it?'' Dyche said. 'But nothing has changed at the moment.'

On Alli's availability, Dyche added: 'I must make it clear he is on the grass but still a long way from being fit.'

Maguire, Onana are Man United's unlikely heroes in UCL win

October 25, 2023

Manchester United found two unlikely heroes in Harry Maguire and André Onana on a night when they honored one of their own.

In the days leading up to Tuesday's Champions League match against FC Copenhagen, tributes to Man United legend Sir Bobby Charlton, who passed away on Saturday at the age of 86, predominated. But in the end, it was all about Maguire's goal and Onana's crucial stoppage-time penalty save that helped Man United defeat FC Copenhagen by a solitary goal, 1-0.

"It is incredible and a great night," said manager Erik ten Hag. "Especially in the dying second when you concede a penalty, but a brilliant save from Andre Onana. Harry Maguire played a good game and Andre Onana as well. A poor first-half, but we stayed calm and in the second-half we stepped up and made more chances than them. I think in the end the result is justified but it was a narrow escape in the end."

Injuries have allowed Maguire to reenter the lineup, and after impressing in Saturday's 2-1 victory over previous team Sheffield United, he kept his spot in front of Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelöf against FC Copenhagen.

Diogo Gonçalves struck the post in the first five minutes of his night after losing a 50-50 battle to Mohamed Elyounoussi on the halfway line, but it finished with the England defender being applauded off as he made his way down the tunnel.

Arsenal, Chelsea interested in signing Ivan Toney

September 27, 2023

According to insiders, Brentford's desire to keep forward Ivan Toney during the January transfer window will be put to the test by a number of teams, including Arsenal and Chelsea.

Following his admission of 232 betting rule violations by the sport Association, the 27-year-old is currently serving an eight-month suspension from sport.

Toney has been suspended until January 16 of the following year and was fined £50,000 ($60,900), but this hasn't stopped prospective new clubs from trying to sign him in the middle of the season.

Toney is a striker who Brentford don't want to lose, but he recently revealed his affection for Arsenal during an appearance for the Diary of a CEO podcast, fueling transfer rumors.

"I've liked watching Arsenal and how they play and how passionate their fans are. I'm a Liverpool boy at heart."

According to sources, Toney recently switched agents in preparation for the next phase of his career.

Although a source familiar with the situation told ESPN that any cost involved is likely to be significantly more, maybe in the neighborhood of £80 million, reports had claimed that Brentford could demand approximately £60 million.

Chelsea is also eager to bring in a striker after struggling to score goals in their first six Premier League games this season... [read more]

Kostas Tsimikas signs new long-term Liverpool contract

September 26, 2023

Kostas Tsimikas, a defender for Liverpool, has agreed to a new long-term contract, the team announced on Monday.

The Greek defender moved to Liverpool from Olympiakos in 2020 and has made 63 appearances for the Merseyside club, including 12 assists.

"I feel very glad to be here to extend my contract," Tsimikas said in a club statement. "I feel like all the sacrifices I did and other things, the work I put in, [that] everything pays off.

"I think this team has very big potential to win more trophies and we will go for it. Everybody, I think, is 100% there [and] focused for the next games and everybody is ready to achieve big things in the future."

Tottenham chairman Levy reveals clause to re-sign Harry Kane

September 22, 2023

As part of the deal that sent Harry Kane to Bayern Munich, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has acknowledged that the club has the option to re-sign Kane.

The 30-year-old parted ways with Spurs this summer after reaching an agreement on a €120 million ($128 million) transfer to the Bundesliga winners.

Kane said in a video message after leaving Tottenham: "I'll see you soon." Tottenham were reluctant to let Kane go; they only decided to do so because there was a chance the England captain would leave for nothing when his contract expired next summer.

After first disregarding a query from a member of the audience, the host prodded Levy to affirm the clause's existence. Levy responded: "Of course."

Prior to Bayern's Champions League home match against Manchester United on Wednesday, Kane stated at a press conference that he was keeping an eye on Tottenham's development under Postecoglou.

"I'll continue to keep an eye on Tottenham for the rest of my life and I'm constantly keeping an eye on them", Kane added.

"I'm really happy to see the team playing the way they are and to see the fans happy is a great thing. They've got a massive game coming up [Arsenal on Sunday] so, for sure, I'll see how they get on over the course of the season.".. [read more]

Ten Hag needs results at Man United quickly to avoid familiar fate

September 19, 2023

When he was brought in to take over towards the conclusion of Manchester United's miserable 2022–23 season, Erik ten Hag has shown to be the tough-guy manager the team needed. However, the former Ajax coach runs the risk of having the football portion of his position at Old Trafford fall apart.

However, there are problems at Old Trafford. The biggest and most successful team in the Premier League (historically, at least) is currently on the verge of another disaster. Things could get worse before they get better this week with back-to-back away games at Bayern Munich in the Champions League and Burnley in the Premier League. Since Sir Alex Ferguson left United in 2013, there has been a troubling pattern of managers struggling after a strong debut season and failing to turn things around. While Ten Hag is not quite there yet, storm clouds are gathering and results—the yardstick by which all managers are assessed—are getting worse.

Ten Hag has a lot of goodwill left over from the previous campaign. Ten Hag may have exceeded expectations in his first season in command, despite the United hierarchy's full understanding that it would take time to restore the team's competitiveness. However, Jose Mourinho did the same when he took home the Carabao Cup and Europa League in his first campaign. A deterioration in his relationship with his Old Trafford superiors and the team led to the former Chelsea, Inter Milan, an.. [read more]

Mason Greenwood makes return to football in Getafe debut

September 18, 2023

After starting off the bench for his football debut with his new team Getafe on Sunday, Mason Greenwood made his comeback.

The striker, who transferred to the LaLiga team on loan from Manchester United, entered the game as a substitute in the second half of Getafe's 3-2 victory over Osasuna.

After a six-month investigation into the forward's behavior, United opted to part ways with him, and the 21-year-old will spend the rest of the season with Getafe.

Following Greenwood's detention on suspicion of attempted rape and violence, a criminal case was dropped against him in February.

Since January 22, 2022, the striker had not participated in a competitive match. He had been on United's suspension for the previous 18 months, but he was undergoing a private training regimen away from the team to get ready to play football again... [read more]

Manchester City has announced that Kyle Walker has signed a new deal, the team said on Thursday.

The England defender's original contract was set to expire this summer, but he has since signed an extension keeping him at the Etihad Stadium through 2026.

"I'm thrilled to sign a new deal. My future is with Manchester City and that is the best thing for me," said Walker. "I've enjoyed every single moment of the past six years at this fantastic Club. I have an amazing coach, great team-mates and staff and our fans are the best. I feel supported on every single level.

Arsenal terminate contract of ex-record signing Nicolas Pépé

September 11, 2023

Nicolas Pépé's contract with Arsenal was canceled on Saturday, allowing the winger to leave on a free transfer.

Man United race to offload Van de Beek to Turkey - sources

September 08, 2023

Fenerbahce and Galatasaray are interested in Donny van de Beek, but sources claim that Manchester United is in a race against time to sell the midfielder.

Manager Erik ten Hag has informed Van de Beek that he is unlikely to play a role for United this season due to the additions of Mason Mount and Sofyan Amrabat in the summer.

The majority of the European transfer windows are currently closed, but clubs in Turkey can still sign players through September 15—giving United one week to come to an agreement.

After United decided to let the Ivory Coast defender, who had one year left on his contract, depart on a free transfer, Besiktas confirmed Eric Bailly's arrival on a one-year deal on Wednesday.

The five-year contract that Van de Beek, who was nominated for the Ballon d'Or in 2019, signed when he joined in a £35 million ($43m) deal from Ajax in 2020, still has two years remaining to go.

He has had a challenging time at Old Trafford, making only 60 appearances across all leagues in three years. Although he was on loan at Everton for the second half of the 2021–22 season, he only made seven appearances.

Last season, he started just two Premier League games despite making 10 appearances for Ten Hag, his old Ajax manager.

Sancho disputes Ten Hag's reason for Man United benching

September 04, 2023

In response to comments made by Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag that he was benched for the squad's Premier League loss at Arsenal due to subpar workout efforts, Jadon Sancho said he had been "made a scapegoat."

Sancho, 23, was not included in the matchday squad for United's 3-1 loss at the Emirates, and Ten Hag claimed after the game that the winger had not performed up to expectations in practice this week.

Sancho, though, published a statement on X an hour after Ten Hag's remarks in the post-match news conference to deny assertions he called "completely untrue."

"Please don't believe everything you read! I will not allow people saying things that is completely untrue," Sancho posted. "I have conducted myself in training very well this week.

"I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won't get into, I've been a scapegoat for a long time which isn't fair!"

Declan Rice and Gabriel Jesus scored goals in stoppage time to give Arsenal a thrilling victory, handing United their second loss of the year after their 2-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur on August 19.

Haaland backs Fulham fury at VAR for allowing Man City goal

September 03, 2023

In their 5-1 loss to Manchester City on Saturday, Fulham's manager Marco Silva was furious about a questionable goal, calling it "a huge mistake" and the game's turning moment. Erling Haaland, who scored a hat-trick for City, agreed with Silva's assessment.

Ahead of goalkeeper Bernd Leno, it appeared as though Manuel Akanji was offside for Nathan Aké's headed goal just before halftime, which would have tied the score at 1-1. In order to let the ball go between his legs and into the goal, Akanji leapt.

"The more you times you see that moment, the more sure you are to disallow it. Our players saw it, everyone on the pitch at that moment has the same opinion."

With his three goals in the second half, Haaland—who had earlier in the week been crowned UEFA Player of the Year—turned the match into a rout. However, he concurred with Silva's assessment of Aké's objective and acknowledged he would be incensed if the circumstances were reversed.

Tim Ream, the captain of Fulham, who scored for his club, claimed that the goal altered the game's pace.

The goal, according to Manchester City assistant manager Juanma Lillo, was solid and more conclusive than the contentious one that Sheffield United scored against them the previous week.

"It's good it happened because two similar things have happened," Lillo told reporters.

Bayern Munich move for Fulham's Joao Palhinha collapses - sources

September 02, 2023

According to reports speaking to ESPN, Joo Palhinha's planned deal to Bayern Munich has fallen through on the day before the transfer deadline since Fulham was unable to find a replacement for the midfielder.

The Cottagers and Bayern had reached an agreement on a transfer cost of around €65 million ($70.5 million) for Palhinha, but Fulham had to find a suitable replacement by Friday night's transfer deadline in order for the transaction to go through.

Due to the Bundesliga transfer window closing at 5 o'clock, the Palhinha transfer was made more challenging. Six hours before it closes in England, at 12 p.m. BST. It means that for Bayern to complete the signing of Palhinha, all necessary elements had to be in place sooner.

According to sources, Fulham turned down an early offer earlier this week, but Bayern came back with a better offer that was accepted—especially since Palhinha was pressing for a transfer to the Bundesliga champions.

The 28-year-old only recently transferred from Sporting Lisbon to Fulham in a transaction for over £20 million. He excelled in the Premier League last season, netting three goals in 35 appearances.

Along with Hojbjerg, Fulham has also been keeping an eye on Monaco midfielder Youssouf Fofana as a potential replacement.

Pochettino satisfied with Chelsea squad if no further signings

August 30, 2023

Mauricio Pochettino has stated that even if Chelsea doesn't add any more players before Friday's transfer deadline, he will be happy with the team he has assembled.

Chelsea has spent more than £320 million ($400 million) on 10 players, but it is still looking to add additional players. Emile Smith Rowe of Arsenal and Brennan Johnson of Nottingham Forest are the most recent candidates.

"I am really happy with the squad that we have got at the moment, so far," Pochettino said ahead of Wednesday's EFL Cup second round match against AFC Wimbledon.

"To be honest, we are so focused on trying to recover players and to be focusing on the game we are ging to play tomorrow in the Carabao Cup against Wimbledon. I know very well that the club is working really hard to try to finish our business. There are still a few days.

"Something might happen. Maybe, yes. At the moment, the club are trying to deliver what we want. There is still nothing to communicate at the moment."

Manchester United has been linked to Cucurella, but Pochettino suggested the defender would play against Wimbledon.

While acknowledging that Chelsea has benefited from the current length of the transfer window given the huge volume of turnover in their team, Pochettino said it should be shorter in the future.

Liverpool win at Newcastle harder than Barca miracle - Klopp

August 29, 2023

According to Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool's dramatic 2-1 victory over Newcastle United on Sunday was "more difficult" than their victory over Barcelona in the 2019 Champions League.

After Virgil van Dijk was dismissed, the Merseyside club fell behind 1-0 and was forced to play for more than an hour with 10 men, but substitute Darwin Nez scored two late goals to save a thrilling victory.

On their path to winning the 2019 Champions League, Liverpool upset LaLiga heavyweights Barca with a thrilling 4-0 comeback victory at Anfield, but Klopp claimed the challenge against Newcastle was much more difficult.

"With my history of over 1,000 games, I've never had something like that in that way, at Newcastle, with that atmosphere - it's crazy. I've never had that, it's special. What it means? I have no clue. Next week is Aston Villa, who are strong so we have to be ready."

Nunez's appearance off the bench after the Uruguayan international scored his first goals of the new campaign received appreciation from Liverpool's manager as well.

"Definitely what I said to Darwin had no influence on his performance," Klopp told reporters in his postmatch news conference. "Pep Lijnders can speak to him and that's what he did, I just give him a hug and encourage him to go out there and fight for the team.

"His key strengths are exceptional, absolutely, but we need to find stability as.. [read more]
Liverpool are counting on Núñez. He delivered at Newcastle

Liverpool are counting on Núñez. He delivered at Newcastle

August 28, 2023

Darwin Núñez arrived at Liverpool a year ago, but he couldn't have come at a better moment. The Uruguayan forward scored twice as a late substitution against Newcastle United on Sunday, turning a loss into a win for Jurgen Klopp's squad and, perhaps, finally proving to us why all the hoopla.

Núñez has fluctuated since joining Liverpool in the summer of 2022 in a club-record signing from Benfica in a deal that might ultimately cost Liverpool £85 million. Although he has occasionally displayed world-class talent, those fleeting flashes have typically been overshadowed by bad finishing, unpredictable decision-making, and a short fuse that opponents have used to divert his attention and occasionally make him close to a liability.

These doubts won't go away completely thanks to Núñez's two crucial goals at St. James' Park, which helped Liverpool win 2-1 despite being reduced to ten players due to captain Virgil van Dijk's red card in the 28th minute, but Klopp will have been greatly relieved by the ruthless manner in which Nez took his chances because his team needs Nez to perform this season more than ever.

Klopp praised Núñez's performance, calling it "super." Despite the fact that it is still early in the season and we still need to establish stability and results, there is no doubt that he will play. He was clearly upset about not getting the start.

Arteta urges Saudi window to close earlier to help PL clubs

August 26, 2023

The Saudi Pro League is now a "competitor" with the Premier League, according to Mikel Arteta, so the transfer window needs to be adjusted to match European schedules.

The majority of clubs in Europe, including those in England, Spain, France, Italy, and Germany, have until September 1 to wrap up their summer business; however, Turkish clubs have until September 15.

Clubs in Saudi Arabia, however, are permitted to continue moving players until September 20. This leaves many sides open to the kind of rich offers seen during the summer, but without the opportunity to replace any players who depart.

As Al Ittihad pursued a deal for Mohamed Salah this week, Jurgen Klopp previously expressed his concern. The Liverpool manager later added on Friday that FIFA should take action because "if you [Saudi Arabia] want to be part of the system, then you do your business at the same time."

When asked if it would be unstable to lose a player beyond the Sept. 1 deadline, Arteta responded, "Yes, very much. The principle would be [not to sell after Sept. 1] but I cannot make the decision for the club. I think we have to change that [the window closing on Sept. 20]."

After having a minor knee procedure, Gabriel Jesus was cleared to play against Fulham, giving Arsenal a huge boost.

He had to have yet another surgery following the preseason, which Arteta described as "a major s.. [read more]

Man City set to make second Matheus Nunes offer - sources

August 25, 2023

According to sources, Manchester City has been informed that Wolverhampton Wanderers will consider a second offer for Matheus Nunes but will back out of a deal if there is no agreement on how much they are willing to pay for the Portugal international.

On Wednesday, City had a £47 million ($59 million) offer rejected after learning that it was significantly undervalued compared to Wolves' assessment of the midfielder.

Wolves do not want Nunes to leave, but it is acknowledged that a sizable offer would have to be taken into account, especially given the 24-year-old's keenness to transfer, according to sources.

While the Brazil midfielder is still the focus of a betting investigation, City withdrew from a deal for Lucas Paquetá of West Ham, but other targets are being watched.

After bringing in Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea and Josko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig, the signing of Doku is expected to push City's summer spending past £150 million. Despite this, the club is still in a position to make a bid for Nunes without running the risk of breaking Financial Fair Play regulations because it has earned more than £80 million from player departures.

More than £50 million has been raised by City from youth exits, including over £9 million from the transfer of Romeo Lavia from Southampton to Chelsea and another £30 million from the signing of Riyad Mahrez to Al Ahli.

Man Utd in 'final stages' of making Mason Greenwood decision

August 17, 2023

After finishing their investigation following Mason Greenwood's arrest, Manchester United says they are in the "final stages" of deciding on his future. This has included taking into account "evidence and context not in the public domain."

Prior to the start of the season, United was supposed to issue a statement regarding Greenwood's future. However, that statement has been postponed while the club consults with important parties, including the women's squad.

The procedure is finally over, the club said in a statement on Wednesday.

The following was stated in the statement: "Manchester United has completed a comprehensive investigation into the claims made against Mason Greenwood following the dismissal of all charges against him in February 2023.

"The fact-finding phase of our investigation is now complete, and we are in the final stages of making a decision regarding Mason's future."

United maintains that no decision has been made.

Greenwood, who is now 21 years old, was first detained in January 2022 on charges of attempted rape and assault following the online dissemination of photographs and an audio clip.

Greenwood would be barred from practices and games, United announced in a statement later.

United launched their own inquiry into the circumstances of Greenwood's detention in response to the report. The team said that .. [read more]

Man United look more like title pretenders after opening game

August 15, 2023

Could Manchester United actually contend for the championship?

After 90 minutes against Wolverhampton Wanderers, the issue has been posed all summer, and there is still no clear answer.

At Old Trafford, Erik ten Hag's squad appeared to be miles away for the whole of the evening, but then Aaron Wan-Bissaka flicked the ball into the penalty area, WHERE Raphael Varane, of all people, headed in the game-winning goal.

The 1-0 victory was probably not deserved because at times, the home crowd appeared more motivated to force the ball into the goal than the players themselves, but all points count, and United has won to start the new Premier League season.

Even though a lot of the chaos was of their own doing, United, who gave summer acquisitions André Onana and Mason Mount their competitive debuts, at least displayed resilience and the ability to withstand the storm. This was especially evident in the way they moved waves of yellow shirts through the middle.

The Cameroonian goalkeeper, who was acquired over the summer from Internazionale, preserved a clean sheet in his debut Premier League outing but had to endure a VAR check in stoppage time after colliding with Sasa Kalajdzic.

Last season, he appeared in 28 games for Nice in all competitions, scoring four times. Barkley previously played almost 200 Premier League games for Everton and Chelsea, scoring 29 goals.

Man United in pole position to sign Mason Mount, hold reservations over transfer fee - sources

June 02, 2023

According to sources who spoke to ESPN, Manchester United is in the lead to sign Mason Mount, but they are hesitant due to Chelsea's anticipated asking price.

United, Liverpool, and Manchester City were all keeping an eye on the 24-year-old's predicament, according to a February ESPN report, as negotiations over a new deal to remain at Stamford Bridge languished.

Mount's current contract expires next summer, and Chelsea would prefer to make a profit now than risk losing him for free in 2024 if an extension cannot be struck.

It's unknown just how much Chelsea is willing to pay to acquire Mount. According to one source, it might cost up to £60 million, although interested teams will likely think they can negotiate a deal for less given the short duration of his contract and Chelsea's desire to let players go in order to cut a bloated roster.

Chelsea will attempt to increase the price by formalizing the interest of other teams. Liverpool is still interested, but hasn't pursued a trade and has turned their focus elseWHERE as they try to finalize a deal for Alexis Mac Allister of Brighton.

The Premier League champions City are in negotiations with Chelsea to get Mateo Kovacic, and Mount has not yet been brought up. Arsenal has reportedly been linked to a bid for Mount, but their top focus remains trying to recruit Declan Rice from West Ham United. They are also reportedly inter.. [read more]

Chelsea appoint Mauricio Pochettino as manager after worst finish in 29 years

May 30, 2023

Mauricio Pochettino, a former manager of Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur, has been named as Chelsea's new manager, the club announced on Monday.

Prior to the club's preseason tour of the United States, Pochettino, 51, will begin working on July 1. He signed a two-year contract with an additional year's option.

Winstanley and Stuart led the search despite final approval coming from co-controlling owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali of Clearlake Capital, who said in a joint statement: "Mauricio's experience, standards of excellence, leadership qualities, and character will serve Chelsea Football Club well as we move forward.

"He is a winning coach, who has worked at the highest levels, in multiple leagues and languages. His ethos, tactical approach and commitment to development all made him the exceptional candidate."

The owners Boehly, Eghbali, Jose E. Feliciano, Mark Walter, and Hansjorg Wyss added: "We are delighted that Mauricio will be joining Chelsea. Mauricio is a world-class coach with an outstanding track record, and we are all looking forward to having him on board. The sporting team conducted a diligent and thoughtful process that the Board is proud of."

Following the club's purchase last year, co-controlling owner Todd Boehly has appointed Pochettino as manager three times.

Man United season not a success despite trophy, Champions League return - Bruno Fernandes

May 27, 2023

Despite winning a title and ensuring a return to the Champions League, Bruno Fernandes claims that Manchester United's season has not been a success.

With a chance to win the FA Cup in the final against Manchester City next month, United has already won the Carabao Cup in Erik ten Hag's first season in command. On Thursday, they defeated Chelsea 4-1 at Old Trafford to secure a top-four finish.

"It's a positive season, not successful because success is different for this club and for us players it has to be too," Fernandes said.

Ten Hag acknowledged that the season has been successful after the victory over Chelsea, but he also stated that his immediate goal is to fight for the Premier League crown.

With one game remaining, United is 17 points behind winners City, and the Dutch coach acknowledged that his squad has a lot of catching up to accomplish.

"It's tough here, there are really good teams, especially this season," Ten Hag said. "Manchester City are playing really outstanding football. We have a way to go, we are in the right direction, we have work to do, so a work in progress.

In the summer transfer window, Ten Hag hopes to sign at least a striker and a midfielder. Although Harry Kane and Mason Mount are among the primary targets, United's manager has also urged his current group of players to improve for the upcoming year.

Manchester United coach Ten Hag warns money alone won't buy success

May 26, 2023

Erik ten Hag has issued a warning to potential Manchester United owners, saying that spending money on the team without a plan will be useless.

Both Qatari businessman Sheikh Jassim and British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe are awaiting word on the outcome of their attempts to acquire the club.

Both have stated that if they take over at Old Trafford, they are willing to spend money on new players, although Ten Hag has emphasised that any recruitment drive must be carefully thought out.

The London club, Chelsea, is expected to finish in the bottom half of the Premier League standings despite owner Todd Boehly spending close to £600 million on 16 new players since taking over Stamford Bridge last summer. United will play Chelsea on Thursday.

"There is a centralisation of good players, of the best managers, also of the money, and it is all here in the UK," Ten Hag said at a news conference on Wednesday. "That makes a great competition, but also a tough and a hard competition.

"And you have to do the right things and you can have money, but you have to do it and spend it in a smart way. And also you need a strategy behind it, because otherwise, the money doesn't work."

Pep Guardiola calls for resolution over Man City charges as he promises to stay regardless

May 24, 2023

Pep Guardiola has begged for a speedy resolution to the allegations that Man City broke Premier League financial regulations, but he has also vowed to remain as manager regardless of the outcome of the probe.

The Premier League submitted Man City's case to an independent commission in February after the club was accused of more than 100 financial rule violations stretching from 2009/10 to 2017/18, but the club categorically denies the accusations. Man City has won the title in five of the last six seasons.

When the allegations surfaced, Guardiola was adamant that City were innocent and declared that the team had already been "condemned," allaying any concerns that he could be tempted to quit the Etihad.

The City manager has stated again how much he wants to stay in his position and how much the team wants to "defend our principles."

"I will stay next season," Guardiola said ahead of Wednesday's trip to Brighton - live.

"I will stay. When 100 breaches from the Premier League against us, don't worry, we will be there."

Asked if it had been a frustrating wait, he added: "We accept it is there. If it happens, it happens. So let's go. Come on, 24 hours, let's go, sit down, talk, both sides, lawyers present, don't wait one year, three years, why not do it quickly?

Man United confident Marcus Rashford will sign new long-term contract - Ten Hag

May 21, 2023

According to manager Erik ten Hag, Manchester United is convinced that Marcus Rashford will dedicate his future to the organization.

In the summer, Rashford will begin the last year of his current deal; if new terms aren't reached, the striker may be free to depart Old Trafford in 2024.

However, Ten Hag thinks it's improbable and is optimistic that negotiations will lead to a new, long-term contract.

"Marcus wants to stay and we want him to stay, so I think we will find each other," said Ten Hag.

Before the defender entered the final year of his contract in April, United stated that it had achieved headway in some contract negotiations and had given Luke Shaw a new agreement.

Ten Hag claims to understand the reasons why Rashford, who has scored 29 goals this season, and the club have been unable to come to terms, but he insists he is not troubled by the delay.

"Yes, I know [why], but I don't talk about the process," he added.

"Let the process go. Once again, this is not important at the moment for me or Rashy. For him, it is to get more goals this season and he is playing a wonderful season and the team is playing a wonderful season. We have to get into the Champions League and focus on that."

Due to illness, Rashford is questionable for United's match against Bournemouth on Saturday.

Sheikh Jassim makes improved bid for Manchester United - sources

May 17, 2023

According to sources who spoke to ESPN, Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al-Thani has increased his offer to purchase Manchester United.

Sheikh Jassim has filed a new offer more than two weeks after Raine Group, the merchant bank conducting the process, requested submission of final proposals amid rumors that the Glazer Family, the existing owners, was favoring one made by British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

In the third round of bidding, Ratcliffe, chairman of the chemical business INEOS, submitted an offer that valued United higher than Sheikh Jassim's prior offer and included provisions for Joel and Avram Glazer to continue holding shares.

Before Sheikh Jassim increased his bid, Ratcliffe was, according to sources, the favorite to complete the deal.

His proposal involves a separate fund to redevelop Old Trafford and enhance the player roster, along with 100% ownership of the club. The Qatari bid also states that it will pay off any debt accrued over the 18 years that Glazer owned the company.

The Glazers stated in November that they would investigate "strategic alternatives," which would entail accepting funding or going through with a full sale.

The Raine Group has received offers for a minority ownership from several American investment companies, including Elliott Management, Ares Management, Sixth Street, and Carlyle, in addition to the approaches from Sheikh.. [read more]

Leicester's Premier League future in peril after loss to Liverpool

May 16, 2023

Curtis Jones scored twice, and Trent Alexander-Arnold added a beautiful goal to give Liverpool a 3-0 victory over Leicester City in the Premier League on Monday. This victory increased Liverpool's chances of qualifying for the Champions League while increasing the Foxes' relegation concerns.

With 36 games played and 65 points, Liverpool is fifth in the standings, one point behind fourth-placed Manchester United, who has a game in hand over their competitors. With two games remaining, Leicester is in 19th place with 30 points, two points behind Everton in the 17th slot.

Liverpool has won seven straight league games, but manager Jurgen Klopp is skeptical that his team can overtake Manchester United or Newcastle to take the top spot.

"I don't think it's likely [finishing in the top four] when you see how they [Man United and Newcastle] play, they have so much quality," Klopp said after the match. "It would be a real shame if they slip and we're not there. So we have to do our job."

Jonny Evans was welcomed back into the starting lineup for Leicester for the first time since October, but the three-time Premier League champion with Manchester United was unable to instill the necessary defensive discipline in his team.

"We look at the results and we've lost too many games and other teams have been better, it's as simple as that," a dejected Evans, who captained Leicester on his re.. [read more]

Brentford beat West Ham to ensure top-half finish

May 15, 2023

Brentford defeated West Ham United 2-0 at home in the Premier League on Sunday thanks to goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa, giving them their best league finish since 1938.

In preparation for Thursday's away leg of their Conference League semifinal against AZ Alkmaar, WHERE they lead 2-1, West Ham manager David Moyes made seven changes to his starting lineup. Despite this, they came up short against their hosts.

With 53 points from 36 games, Brentford moves up to ninth place and will finish in the top half for the first time since placing sixth 85 years ago. With two games left, West Ham maintained its position in 15th place, six points above the relegation zone.

On the 20th minute, Mbuemo's low shot past the goalkeeper of the opposing team, Lukasz Fabianski, after Brentford won the ball in midfield and moved it to him in plenty of space on the right side of the box.

Two minutes prior to halftime, Ben Mee flicked on Mathias Jensen's long throw, which Wissa then headed into the goal to extend the lead for the home team.

Midway through the second half, West Ham felt they had equalized through a Danny Ings header, but a VAR review determined that the goal was off for a handball committed by young attacker Divin Mubama in the buildup... [read more]

Aston Villa edge Tottenham as race for European spot tightens up

May 14, 2023

Tottenham Hotspur's miserable Premier League away record continued on Saturday with a 2-1 loss at Aston Villa, which put their chances of making it to Europe in jeopardy.

Tottenham's seven-game losing record on the road was extended by goals from Jacob Ramsey and Douglas Luiz, while Villa's sixth straight home victory kept their European chances very much alive.

When the half, Tottenham tried harder, but it was too late when Luiz scored on a free kick in the 72nd minute that goalkeeper Fraser Forster ought to have stopped.

Although they did experience some trepidation late on after Harry Kane converted a penalty and Son Heung-min appeared to have tied the score with seconds remaining but was actually wide offside, Villa earned all three points.

The sixth-place team is expected to join the fifth-place team in the Europa League, while the seventh-place team will play in the Europa Conference League.

Even though it was sunny at Villa Park, Tottenham's lackluster performance in the last minutes filled the away fans' seats with sadness.

Ollie Watkins' diving header and Emiliano Buendia's shot off of Bailey's cutback both came close to doubling Villa's lead.

Spurs finally got going in the second half, and Kane had a chance to equalize when he capitalized on a Luiz error, but instead, he shot straight at goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.

Ten Hag: Top players want to join Man United this summer

May 13, 2023

Erik ten Hag claims that "top players want to come" to Manchester United this summer and maintains that the club's participation in the Champions League is not necessary for a successful transfer window.

In the wake of consecutive losses to Brighton and West Ham, United is in danger of failing to secure a spot in the top four.

Ten Hag, though, is certain that he can continue to entice players to Old Trafford even if he is unable to provide Champions League football for at least a year.

"I see a big difference in comparison with last year," said Ten Hag.

"There were a lot of reservations last year when I spoke with players and now many players see the project, what's going on, the dynamic and the ambition in this project, the quality especially.

"They are really keen to come, I've noticed that. It looks like there were a lot of reservations last year, a lot of doubts when we approached players. This year, many quality players really want to come."

United will be able to fend off Liverpool's onslaught and secure a spot in the Champions League with three victories from its final four games.

Despite acknowledging that his team is worn out after a season that has already included 57 games, Ten Hag is hopeful that his players will be rejuvenated when they take on Wolves on Saturday.

USMNT captain Tyler Adams set to miss rest of season for Leeds

May 12, 2023

Tyler Adams, the captain of the United States, is not likely to play for Leeds again this year.

Adams had hamstring surgery in March, and Leeds manager Sam Allardyce said on Thursday that he does not anticipate the defensive midfielder playing in the team's remaining three games as it fights to stay in the Premier League.

"No, not that I believe. Sadly," Allarydyce said in reference to a possible Adams return this season.

Leeds, which is two points away from safety in last place, will face Newcastle on Saturday. Before hosting Tottenham in the season finale, Leeds travels to West Ham.

Since Adams' last appearance on March 11, the team has lost six of its nine games while giving up an average of three goals per contest, demonstrating how much the defense has missed the protection Adams provides.

In the offseason of the previous year, Adams moved from Leipzig to Leeds.

Nottingham Forest edge Southampton to escape drop zone

May 10, 2023

Nottingham Forest's Premier League survival prospects received a huge boost when Taiwo Awoniyi's brace helped them defeat bottom-place Southampton 4-3 at home, ending Southampton's 10-year tenure in the top division.

Nigerian striker Awoniyi scored twice in the first four minutes of a tense City Ground match to give his team the lead before Carlos Alcaraz answered for the visitors. The game showed both teams' defensive flaws.

In the 44th minute, a Morgan Gibbs-White penalty restored Forest's two-goal advantage, but a Lyanco header gave Southampton new life. This put Forest's supporters on edge once more.

Southampton was on the verge of tying the score when Forest's Danilo finished off a beautiful play in the 73rd minute. Before Saints captain James Ward-Prowse raised the stakes by converting a stoppage-time penalty, Forest had a Felipe goal disallowed for offside.

With 33 points from 35 games, Forest managed to hang on for the three points that propelled them out of the relegation zone and into 16th place.

With three games remaining, Southampton is eight points out of the safety zone with 24 points from 35 games. They will be relegated if they lose to Fulham in their upcoming encounter.

Although the club's boisterous supporters and manager Steve Cooper's fingernails would have taken a beating, it was a happy night for Forest.

Everton smash Brighton to move out of relegation places

May 09, 2023

In a shocking 5-1 Premier League victory over Brighton & Hove Albion on Monday, relegation-threatened Everton demonstrated the art of the counterattack by scoring twice in the first half.

Everton tore apart their hosts with lightning-quick bursts, and then withstood tremendous pressure in the second half until losing when Alexis Mac Allister scored for the home team. Brighton goalkeeper Jason Steele committed an own goal and Dwight McNeil added two more goals.

In an effort to escape being relegated for the first time since 1951, the Merseyside club increased its point total to 32 from 35 games, two points above the relegation zone. Brighton, meanwhile, saw their chances of playing in Europe next season diminished and now lie in seventh place with 55 points from 33 games.

"They [Brighton] play a particular way with two boxes in midfield. I said to the lads it is about focus. Our tactical shape has been pretty good since I've come in here. But it's about focus when they change their tune and try and pop it around the corner and play neat and tidy," Everton manager Sean Dyche said.

"But equally it's not just about shadow play, you've got to go and break it up and first half we did that so many times. Second half they had a good spell but we calmed that down and I thought we saw the game through very well."

De Gea error gifts West Ham 1-0 win over Manchester United

May 08, 2023

West Ham United secured a 1-0 victory in the Premier League at the London Stadium on Sunday thanks to a mistake by Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea, giving the Londoners three crucial points in their fight against relegation.

United are fourth with 63 points after 34 games, one point ahead of Liverpool and with a match left to play. West Ham are 15th with 37 points, seven points above the relegation zone.

The first-half posts were struck by visiting forwards Marcus Rashford and Antony, but De Gea's blunder will make headlines since it revived the race for Champions League spots.

Although Spain's goalkeeper De Gea dove to block Said Benrahma's bouncing long shot, he was unable to prevent West Ham from scoring as they took the lead.

The momentum United had was lost as a result. When Victor Lindelof pushed his arm into the path of a ball from Benrahma as the first half came to a close, they were fortunate not to give up a penalty. The VAR decided against recommending a spot kick.

"It's part of football. You have a lot in your head but football is a game of mistakes," United boss Erik ten Hag told the BBC. "There's a team, you have to bounce back and deal with the effect. You can also say in front of goal we weren't clinical enough."

Salah strike fires Liverpool to 1-0 win over Brentford

May 07, 2023

Liverpool defeated Brentford 1-0 in the Premier League on Saturday thanks to an early strike from Mohamed Salah, keeping the pressure on ferocious rivals Manchester United in the race for Champions League football next season.

The Merseysiders' sixth straight league victory put them in fifth place with 62 points, one point behind United in fourth, but United has two games in hand over Liverpool. Brentford has 50 points and is eighth.

Prior to kickoff, the national anthem played in honor of King Charles' coronation in London earlier that day was loudly booed, whistled, and screamed by Liverpool supporters.

Juergen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool, selected Salah, Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, and Cody Gakpo in a star-studded assault with anticipation that the opponents would defend deeply. It swiftly paid off as Salah opened the scoring in the 13th minute.

Before Fabinho passed to Virgil van Dijk at the back post, the Egyptian initiated the move. The massive Dutchman then headed the ball back for Salah to tuck home his 100th goal at Anfield.

In the 40th minute, Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo outran and outmuscled Van Dijk to score, but the goal was overturned due to a little offside that was verified by video assistant referees.

Late Mac Allister VAR penalty gives Brighton 1-0 win over Manchester United

May 06, 2023

In a thrilling Premier League match on Thursday, Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Alexis Mac Allister scored the game-winning penalty kick in the final seconds to give his team a 1-0 victory over Manchester United.

Referee Andre Mariner directed to the spot after consulting the pitchside monitor over a potential handball on Man United defender Luke Shaw, and Mac Allister converted the penalty to give Brighton a commanding victory.

Erik ten Hag's team now sits in fourth place with 63 points after the loss, four points clear of fifth-placed Liverpool and with a match remaining against their Merseyside rivals, while Brighton rises to sixth with 55 points.

The host team had the most of the ball and had a chance to score as early as the fourth minute when Kaoru Mitoma of Japan intercepted a pass left by Victor Lindelof but his shot was blocked by David De Gea.

The first minute sets everything up: We generated a terrific chance, but we weren't clinical enough to take advantage of it. Ten Hag cut a disgruntled figure after the game, telling reporters: "Every defeat is a disappointment, to lose it in the last second is unpleasant.

"In attack, after we gave away a chance, the ball in the head for David. In the end, we also gave away the goal, it's annoying. If you can't win because you don't score, then you can't lose."

Manchester City reclaim top spot with win over West Ham

May 05, 2023

Wednesday's 3-0 victory over West Ham United lifted Manchester City back to the top of the standings thanks in large part to Erling Haaland's record-breaking 35th Premier League goal of the year.

The Norwegian broke the Premier League record most goals scored in a single season with a deft chip into the goal after 70 minutes to put an end to West Ham's tenacious defense.

The woodwork denied Treble-chasing City twice as they were frustrated by relegation-threatened West Ham in the first half. City entered the night in second place after Arsenal's victory against Chelsea on Tuesday.

However, Nathan Ake scored the game-winning goal with a header from a free kick five minutes after the break.

With five games remaining, Haaland calmed the atmosphere surrounding the Etihad Stadium as he pounced on Jack Grealish's through ball to defeat Lukasz Fabianski and surpass the 34 goals of Andy Cole and Alan Shearer.

After securing the victory, replacement Phil Foden made it 3-0 in the 85th minute with a beautifully hit volley.

Pep Guardiola's City are vying for their fifth championship in six years with Arsenal on 78 points after 33 games despite having played one more game. If they defeat Leeds United at home on Saturday, they will increase their lead to four.

In 15th place, four points above the relegation zone, West Ham is still in peril.
